Change and perspective expand quickly in tight quarters—and no one knows that as well as married couple Solange Igoa and Andrea Walker. It’s true of each of their time as queer kids in need of an escape from conservative towns; of their years living together in a van, traveling the country to play music and busk; of settling down in a studio apartment just prior to the pandemic. And now, partnered with a rhythm section and produced by Chris Funk of the Decemberists, they’re harnessing the lessons from this closeness and cracking them wide open into a whole new world with their band Glitterfox.
The duo first met at a coffee house open mic in Long Beach, California, where Walker had recently relocated after growing up in North Carolina and Virginia. Walker quickly fell in love with Igoa’s voice, knowing that if their vocals and guitar came together that would only flourish—and it did, the two now married and having spent more than a decade as a pair. Musically, channeling Walker’s Southern warmth through Southern California indie shine, Glitterfox carves out lithe, nostalgia-fueled anthems powered by the intimacy of their relationship. “A lot of our songs are about serious challenges in our lives,” Walker says. “All the struggles in my life get poured into the music, but always with this silver lining of hope, this drive not to quit before the miracle happens. Making a living as an independent musician is hard, but we’ve always had each other and always made it work.”

Alessandra Rose
Debra Heesch Presents Alessandra Rose w/ band !
March 16th, 7pm
Tickets are $10 at
https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6240255
Alessandra Rose is blessed with an instrument of penetrating grace, her voice a siren song wrapped in silk and incense. Bright as a brass bell and edged with a warm glow of whiskey and woodsmoke, it is resonant, radiant, and absolutely hair-raising.
On her new LP RODEOMOTHH, Rose has built a work of expansive, beguiling, psych-tinged anthemic rock & roll. A heavyweight of a record, both intentional and exceptional is arrangement and execution, and ready to take its place in the canon of iconic recordings.
RODEOMOTHH was recorded with Grammy-winning producer / engineer Mitch Dane (The Blind Boys of Alabama). In addition to Rose on vocals and acoustic guitar, the record features guitarist Courtlan Clement (Marc Bourssard), Kevin Whitsett (Sam Williams) on bass, drummer Paul Eckberg (Amy Grant), and Charlie Lowell (Jars of Clay) on piano and synth. It was mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Jack White).
Thematically, the secret to RODEOMOTHH is hidden in its name. Its an anagram of motherhood explains Rose. Every song tells a part of my journey of being a mother. Regardless of gender or parental status, these songs of unrestrained loving, free of consequence, speak to the soul. Indeed, the tales of falling in love and the work it takes to maintain that, of the pure joy of new life and the tearing sadness of life lost, are deeply, universally, human.

About Max -
As a budding performer, Max apprenticed in the rarefied musical micro-climate of northern New Mexico, where troubadours like Michael Martin Murphey and Ray Wylie Hubbard helped foster a Western folk sound both cosmic and cowboy. Gomez has assumed stewardship of that lineage by producing the Red River Folk Festival, a boutique event held annually in late September in the musical mountain village of Red River, NM.
Judging by the company he keeps, Gomez is positioned to emerge as a prominent voice of Americanas next generation. He has shared billing on hundreds of stages with stalwarts of the genre like Shawn Mullins, James McMurtry, Buddy Miller, Jim Lauderdale, Patty Griffin, and John Hiatt. His classic-and-contemporary reading of He Was a Friend of Mine proves the point.

About Steve -
Steve Itterly is a performer creating a unique and distinct personal acoustic experience. His music draws upon the rich tapestry of honest rhythms falling somewhere between early jazz, blues, swing, folk and the tangible comforts of home. Bridging the likes of Woody Guthrie and Piedmont Blues, his lyrics are anchored by the rustic, country texture in his voice. He is a winner of the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival, Blues Challenge Competition, and is also a recognized songwriter from the Telluride Troubadour National Songwriter Competition. His music is compared to the talents of John Prine and with a voice just this side of the gravel he sounds a bit like Bob Dylan.
